From Folded Stock and Closet Hangers to Overhead Studio Flat Lays
Apparel boutiques, vintage sellers and Shopify merchants frequently receive garments folded in polybags with retail hang tags or photograph pieces hanging on a door or flat on the floor. In this episode, five real garment photographs — a folded dark-green rugby polo with a retail hang tag, a wrinkled embroidered white shirt on a plastic hanger, a Generra Hypercolor tie-dye sweatshirt with a folded sleeve, a black T-shirt under window-blind shadows and floor-shot blue denim jeans — are transformed into clean, symmetrical overhead flat lays.
Web Studio, Shopify App, Social Shops and REST API
On PixelAPI Web Studio (pixelapi.dev/app#flat-lay), upload a folded or hanger photo, provide an optional garment hint such as rugby polo shirt, and generate a studio flat lay with hangers and retail hang tags removed and sleeves unfolded. Merchants can also trigger Flat Lay from the Shopify App (PixelAPI Studio), sync listings to Instagram Shop, Depop and Poshmark, or batch folders via POST /v1/image/flat-lay. The resulting flat lay serves both as a clean product page image and as the ideal input for downstream AI Fashion Model (labelled AI-GENERATED MODEL) and Virtual Try-On lookbooks.
What to inspect before publishing
Verify that hangers and retail hang tags are cleanly removed, folded sleeves and hems open symmetrically, and fabric stripes, embroidery and chest graphics match the original garment.
